Want a New Job Before the End of the Year?

If you’re still hoping to land a new job before the end of the year, take a few minutes to find out what’s happening in the job market. Is it a good time to find a new job opportunity? Are things looking up or down as we head into the final few months of 2016? A helpful source for this information is the latest Manpower Employment Outlook Survey recently released by ManpowerGroup.

According to the survey, 22% of employers plan to hire in the fourth quarter of 2016. This is up 1% from this time last year. So, there definitely will be hiring; just maybe not as much as you’d like. Plus, a lot of job seekers might also slow down their job hunting efforts because they think it’s a slow hiring time. This could be a great time to step up your efforts and stand out.

Let’s take a little deeper look at what the Manpower Employment Outlook Survey is really saying and how it may impact your job search.

The Q4 2016 Manpower Employment Outlook Survey says:

  • 22% of U.S. employers plan to hire in Q4 – that’s almost one out of five employers. Only 6% of employers expect to reduce their workforce.
  • All industry sectors revealed positive outlooks – that means improvement is not limited to one type of work environment. The industries with the highest hiring plans include: Leisure & Hospitality, Wholesale & Retail Trade, Transportation & Utilities and Professional & Business Services.
  • The best metro areas for hiring include: Honolulu, HI; Provo-Orem, UT; Raleigh, NC; Miami, FL; Nashville, TN; Charleston, SC. If you are in those areas, your job prospects are higher than the average. Make your moves now.
