Job Market Update: What Will Q2 Hold?
Job Market Update: What will Q2 Hold?
What’s happening in the job market? Are things looking up, down, the same, or sideways as 2016 marches along?
According to the latest Manpower Employment Outlook Survey released this week by ManpowerGroup, 22% of employers plan to hire in the second quarter of 2016. This is up 2% from the first quarter of 2016 and the same as this time last year. These stable hiring plans are good, especially when only 4% of employers plan to decrease staff levels.
While these may not seem like the best numbers possible, at least it’s positive. There are a lot of surveys and reports about the job market out there, and sometimes it can be tough to figure out what that means to the average job seeker. Let’s take a look at what the Manpower Employment Outlook Survey is really saying and how that can impact your job search.
Survey says:
- 22% of U.S. employers plan to hire in Q2 – that’s more than one out of five employers. These solid numbers could mean job opportunities for you.
- All industry sectors revealed positive outlooks – that means improvement is not limited to one type of work environment. Industries with the top hiring intentions include Leisure & Hospitality, Wholesale & Retail Trade, Transportation & Utilities and Professional & Business Services.
- The best metro areas for hiring include: Charlotte, NC; Omaha, NE; Albany, NY; and Boise, ID. If you are in those areas, your job prospects are higher than the average
So, let the numbers play a role in your career. Use these results to help guide some of your job search decisions. There are going to be jobs out there; if you are ready to make a change
